ENG-W vs IND-W 1st ODI Match Prediction & Betting Tips
England Women will take on India Women in the first WODI at The County Ground, Hove. The first game of the series begins at 11:00 local time on Sunday 18th September.
Charlie Dean and Emma Lamb are the only new additions to the England Women’s squad from their WIT20 who beat India Women 2-1 last week. Nat Sciver remains unavailable for selection whilst she prioritises her mental health which means that Amy Jones will captain the side.
Sophia Dunkley impressed during the WIT20 series and ended the three games with the highest number of runs (115). Dunkley, along with opener Danni Wyatt and top order batter Alice Capsey will again be key wickets. Tammy Beaumont’s experience at the top of the order, she has 97 WODI caps, will also be crucial.
The England Women’s bowlers produced better returns than India Women’s during the short-format series and it was their spinners who stood out. The pace attack will be expected to step up in this match and we have picked out Issy Wong and Kate Cross as key bowlers.
England Women won two games convincingly in the WIT20s but are without experienced batters so the odd low total is to be expected. They beat South Africa Women 3-0 earlier this summer in a WODI series.
With the weather conditions turning from the heat wave experienced across the UK in August, the conditions are going to be tough for India Women. They showed plenty of quality in the game in Derby in the WIT20 series and will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur again.
Shafali Verma will open the batting for India Women and she comes into this game in excellent form in this format. She has not made a score under 35 across her last five WODIs and hit scores of 71 not out and 49 against Sri Lanka Women in her last two WODIs.
Sneh Rana has not featured in a WODI for India Women since the Women’s World Cup at the end of March in New Zealand but she is in the squad and was their best bowler during the WIT20 series. It would be a big surprise if she did not feature in this match and we would expect her and Renuka Singh to be the most threatening.
Although they will be disappointed to have lost the WIT20 series 2-1, India Women come into this format in good form after beating Sri Lanka Women 3-0 in early July.

ENG Women vs IND Women Prediction
Conditions are excellent for cricket across the day in Hove although it could be a bit chilly across the first hour. Much will depend on the all-rounders, Harmanpreet Kaur and Sophia Dunkley, and how well the India bowlers perform. Overall we expect an even contest with England Women getting the win.
