Skipper Sophie Devine and the 2021 WBBL leading run scorer Beth Mooney put on a half-century partnership for the first wicket on Sunday. Devine finished unbeaten with 44 runs from 42 balls with her fellow New Zealander Maddy Green not-out on 15.
With the exception of 28 year old all-rounder Taneale Peschel who conceded 17 runs from two overs, the rest of Perth Scorchers Women’s bowling attack kept their economy rates down to under five runs per over. Lilly Mills took 2-12 from four overs.
The Scorchers were the standout side in the 2021 WBBL and look to be at a similar level this year.
