WI-W vs NZ-W 2nd ODI Match Prediction & Betting Tips
West Indies Women will take on New Zealand Women in the second WODI at The Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. The first match of the series begins at 09:30 local time on Wednesday 21st September.
West Indies Women
After a delay to the start of the series, West Indies Women were narrowly beaten by five runs (DLS) in the opening WODI. There was a new look top three with Rashada Williams, Natasha McLean and Shabika Gajnabi coming in ahead of Stafanie Taylor and captain Hayley Matthews.
The top run scorers in the first WODI were numbers six and seven in the batting order with Kyshona Knight scoring 36 and Chinelle Henry most impressive with a 34-ball 44. Opener Natasha McLean was the only player to hit a six in the total of 168-7 from 35 overs.
Hayley Matthews, Chinelle Henry and Afy Fletcher were the bowlers to pick up wickets in Monday’s WODI. Skipper Matthews took 3-28 from seven overs with Afy Fletcher taking 1-27. Although right-arm off-spinner Karishma Ramharack went wicketless, she bowled the only maiden over of the innings.
Bad light brought an end to the first game of the series and West Indies Women were very close to getting the win. They have not won any of their last four matches in this format.
New Zealand Women
The visitors gave a WODI debut to 18 year old wicket-keeper Isabella Gaze on Monday. She had previously played five WT20Is but the opening match was her first appearance in the longer white ball format. Strong scores from the top three were enough to take New Zealand Women to a tight win.
The talented opening pair of Suzie Bates and captain Sophie Devine put on another half-century partnership with Bates continuing her strong form and hitting 51 runs from 65 balls. Batting at number three, Amelia Kerr finished unbeaten on 47 from 67 balls.
Jess Kerr and Fran Jonas both took two wickets on Tuesday with Hayley Jensen and Hannah Rowe both contributing a dismissal each. All of New Zealand Women’s bowlers bowled with impressive control, there was a range of 3.14 to 6.85 in economy rates across the seven bowlers.
Although New Zealand Women lost three successive WODIs at the back end of the World Cup in March, they have now won two matches in a row.
